FRENCH CHAT BOOSTERS
"The French Chat Boosters" communication handouts by Sue Fenton has been one of my BEST RESOURCES and cannot live without it...I keep that book in my briefcase at all times." Kay Romero, Colorado Springs, CO
FRENCH CHAT BOOSTERS Sue Fenton
Communication Handouts Lists and lists of useful, mundane words mixed with plenty of slang and exotic words and phrases for students to stick into easy sentences and titillate their classmates with. The whole set of reproducible handouts constitutes something like a phrase book or thematic vocabulary book of up-to-date French, but much more fun and stimulating than any such book--a great way to encourage students to express their imaginations in French. This book is useful in so many ways that teachers are bound to use it to good effect frequently. It's a goldmine of French vocabulary.

FRENCH CHAT BOOSTERS Sue Fenton
(from The French Review of the AATF)
As teachers of beginning /intermediate French, how many times have we needed a complete list of countries and nationalities, a detailed inventory of food items, or an exhaustive list of adjectives that describe people, not just the ones included in our textbook? ...Have your students ever been frustrated by their inability to formulate some of their own thoughts because they simply do not have enough vocabulary at their fingertips?...These streamlined charts and lists present the material in a conversational context because the overarching goal of the author is to provide a resource for students that ultimately arms them with the linguistic ammunition necessary to express themselves more fully and more creatively than they would be likely tod o with their textbooks alone...
...The organizational design of this material encourages students to explore communicative options without being intimidated or overwhelmed. It is clear that
the author has taught different levels of French and is sharing with us material she developed based on the needs many of our students have...
...One of the main advantages of the book lies in its flexibility. Since the material is not textbook specific, it can be effectively supplement any program and will continue to be a useful resource during and after curriculum design. These enrichment sheets are laid out for easy reproduction and distribution to students. They are readily accessible reference for students...attaching them in their notebooks and taking them along with them from level to level...Herein lays the beauty of this resource; it is eminently usable by teachers and students alike.

POWER TALK Sue Fenton
Strategies & Activities for Speaking A treasure of ideas and effective activities for developing fluency. Even if you think you've heard every idea, you'll find many here that you haven't. Your students' French will improve more from the use of many of these activities than from most anything you can find in a textbook.

OVER 1,000 CONVERSATION STARTERS Sue Fenton
(From The French Review, AATF, May 2003)
...She explains the tools that every teacher needs and then propels the reader into an amazing array of activities and ideas for the classroom...Since we cannot take our students to the countries where the target language is spoken, the next best thing, according to Fenton, is to make the students feel that once they have entered the classroom our classroom, they are in another country, one where the language is spoken...A student-centered classroom is emphasized as being important to active learning...
..Fenton believes that teachers should simulate to communicate, teaching language through communication units instead of isolated grammar units...I keep this book close by my desk because it has become one fo the resources that I use the most. If you find yourself in a crea6tive rut where class periods become one exercice from the textbook after another, this book will help reenergize both your studetns and you with a minimal of effort.
